It’s not always possible to meet up with my clients before their wedding, but I always love to if it’s possible. I was able to meet up with Jessica and Kevin at a Starbucks for coffee and within a few minutes, I knew that they were one couple that I really wanted to work with. I am always very interested in getting to know my couples (this is one reason why I really enjoy wedding photography, I feel that everyone has a story and I am curious to hear about it) so when we got to talking and I found out that we have a lot of similar interests, I got even more excited to be part of their wedding day. Right away, you could tell that they were absolutely crazy about each other and they absolutely make one amazing couple!
The day started at the Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon IL, (Whenever I get the chance to photograph a wedding at the Four Rivers Environmental Education Center in Channahon, I get excited, especially if it’s with a couple as amazing as Jessica and Kevin). Jessica and her friends were already there doing their makeup and hair and I was able to take the dress and some of the details outside for some photos. I don’t know if I ever said this but the late afternoon light in the fall is INCREDIBLE! The colors seem to take on a pastel quality to them and the sun doesn’t seem as harsh.
After the details were done, I was able to get the rest of the getting ready shots. I have to point out that Jessica and her bridesmaids have some amazing music taste! The guys arrived a little bit later and I was able to take them outside before the wedding started just because I knew that there wouldn’t be a ton of good light left after the wedding. The ceremony itself was beautiful and was officiated by one of Jessica and Kevins good friends which I always feel gives the whole wedding more of a romantic feel.
After the ceremony, we went straight outside to capitalize on the last bit of the setting sun and it was amazing! It was pretty cold outside but everyone toughed it out and were up for anything! After that, it was time to eat and dance the rest of the evening. Side note, man does the Four Rivers look great from the outside at night! On my out, I actually got to check something off my bucket list and that was I actually got to pet a police dog that was in the lobby. Jessica and Kevin, thanks for being so amazing to work with, you two are incredible!
