I actually have a bit of a lull in editing right now so I figured I would try and get a few blog posts out. I have been very excited to share Kelly and Marks wedding from last month but I haven’t had the time to post it! Kelly and Mark live pretty close to me so we met up for some coffee to talk about their wedding details. Pretty much right away I knew that they were my kind of couple and they just had this awesome energy when they were with each other. We met up in the winter at Hammel Woods for their engagement session in one of the most gnarly snow storms that Naperville has got for a while but they didn’t skip a beat and didn’t mind getting right into the snow.
Fast-forward a few months later, and we were on a bridge in Lemont during Kelly and Marks emotional first look! I absolutely love the tradition of first looks and when Mark saw his bride for the first time, he couldn’t hold it back. I even got choked up during this one! It was very warm outside so I tried to keep them in the shade as much as possible which really worked out because shade always gives me really even light while also keeps them cool. We then headed down the street to the beautiful Old Stone Church in Lemont. If you’re interested in history, here are some facts about the church!
The Old Stone Church is the oldest church structure in the village, and served as the Lemont Methodist Episcopal Church for 100 years, from, 1861 to 1970. In 1970 the congregation moved into its new quarters, and deeded the building to the Lemont Area Historical Society. It now serves as the Lemont Area Historical Society’s museum.
Methodist Sunday service and Sunday School were started in the town in 1857, and were originally held in the old town hall on Main Street. The congregation laid the cornerstone for the church on September 14, 1861, and opened it for services in November of that year. The cost to build it – $1,940.00.
After the ceremony, we headed to one of my favorite wedding venues in the area, Warehouse 109. You can read my thoughts about this venue right here. I was able to sneak them out for a few minutes in the evening sun which always produce some of my favorite images from any wedding day. I stuck around for a bit of dancing and then I had a nice very short ride home! Kelly and Mark, you both are awesome and are absolutely meant for each other!! Don’t be strangers!
