Summer lake weddings are honestly one of my favorite types of weddings to photograph and Jahsalynn and Bretts was one of the most amazing weddings yet! When I spoke with Jahsalynn over the phone to figure out all of the wedding details and to answer questions, the one question that I vividly remember is “This one is kind of a deal-breaker, are you ok with dogs? Even really big dogs?”
If you know anything about me you know that my immediate answer was a “Heck yeah I am!!” and then we talked about dogs for the rest of the conversation! I left that call with a huge smile on my face!
Fast forward to the wedding day, they chose to have a lake wedding at Brett’s family lodge that his grandfather built himself at Lake Bloomington! How amazing is that?! Just getting to look around at the craftsmanship was such an honor not to mention photographing a wedding there.
When I say lake wedding, I mean it. We were right off of the water and surrounded on three sides by the lake itself and the sun was just starting to dip right behind the gazebo that Brett’s grandfather built (he built that too, I’m telling you, such an awesome day).
The wedding itself was so amazing and was filled with all of their close friends and family and my favorite wedding guest of all time, Murphy (that’s their pup). After some of the best vows that I have heard and plenty of laughs, they shared their first kiss and you can absolutely feel the energy in the air as they walked back down the aisle. We then had plenty of time to capture portraits of the newlyweds and family and it was such great timing because the sun was setting in the background and the lake was looking so amazing.
After the photos were done, we headed over to Epiphany Farms Restaurant in Bloomington Illinois for the reception and they even let Murphy come in too! The rest of the night was amazing and everyone was so laidback and the dance floor was packed! Jahsalynn and Brett, you two are amazing! Thank you so much for letting me be part of your big day!
