I love going to the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool especially in the spring. All the people seem to be happy while they enjoy the warming temperatures around the city and the blue sky seems to be at its brightest it has been all year, while all of the trees start to wake up from their winter rest. Kathryn and Joseph picked the perfect time of year to get married. I started off the day with Kathryn and the girls at her apartment in downtown Chicago. While there, I watched as Kathryn cut and arrange her own bouquet which consisted of mainly hydrangeas.
Her dress was gorgeous and was perfect for the beautiful spring weather. After all the girls were finished getting ready, I headed over to meet Joseph at the incredibly amazing Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool which was a short walk from their apartment. Secretly tucked away by the Lincoln Park Zoo, this place is a stunning place to have a ceremony. The path leading up to the ceremony spot is amazing in spring with all of the blooming flowers and budding trees. Joseph was waiting patiently for his bride when I arrived. The ceremony was AWESOME with their heartfelt written vows and the goose that wanted to be in every photo. This was one ceremony that definitely tugged on my heart strings.
After the ceremony, the newly weds and I wandered around the zoo looking for the river otters that ended up being a no show. We hit a few more spots for photos; one spot in particular had an amazing view of the Chicago skyline that we took full advantage of. We then took a bus ride back to their apartment to pick up our cars.
Their reception was at the Mars Gallery in Chicago and I would have to say that it was awesome. Throughout the venue, there was an assortment of art work from a few local artists. My personal favorite was a painting of three storm troopers that was hung above the dance floor.
My favorite part of the entire evening had to be their first dance. I love it when a couple gets lost in each other and makes it seem as if they are the only two in the room. I had an incredible time hanging out with these two for the day and their wedding would be one that would be impossible to forget. These two seriously make an unbelievable couple!
