Jack and Mary was one couple that throughout the wedding honestly never took their eyes off of each other. Whenever they would catch each other looking, they would light up with one of the biggest smiles ever! I always love seeing that in a couple, no matter how many people are around, they are still romantic with each other even if it is just small gestures here and there. The first time ever meeting Mary and Jack was at their engagement session at the Adler Planetarium in downtown Chicago. It was a super cold winter day but they toughed it out and we were able to get some amazing images for their invitations.
Along the planning process for their wedding, we kept in contact quite a bit just to make sure everything would run smoothly and to acquire the necessary permits for outdoor locations. We also met up a few times for coffee just to make sure that the schedule was ironed out and just to hang out (they are such an awesome couple to hang out with!).
On their wedding day, I met up with Jack and the guys at a hotel in Naperville. The hotel ended up locking Jack out of the room after cleaning but Jack was still able to stay calm as he hung out with his groomsmen in the hallway. After getting his suit on, he read a letter that Mary wrote him and his reaction was AMAZING! You can absolutely tell that these two are crazy about each other. I left the guys for their last-minute touch-ups and headed over to the girls.
I met Mary and the girls at her childhood home in Naperville where Chris (Second Photographer) met up with us. Quick side note, Chris and I have worked together so many times that I can’t count and he is honestly the best second photographer that I have ever worked with. He knows what I am thinking before I do and helps me keep everything running nice and smooth. He is awesome! End rant. After taking some photos around her home and after the girls finished getting ready, it was off to St Thomas Church in Naperville.
I have photographed a bunch of weddings here in the past and every time I walk into the building, I forget how beautiful it is! The ceremony was awesome and there were so many heartfelt moments that it made mine and Chris’ job easy. We just had to be ready to capture them! After the ceremony, we were able to do some family photos and images around the church and we then hopped on the party bus and headed to Cantigny Park in Wheaton.
We didn’t have a ton of time at this spot but even in late fall, this place still looks amazing! We headed over to the pond so we could capitalize on the calm water and use the reflective surface! After the bridal party photos, they headed back to the bus and Chris and I took out Jack and Mary around the park to some of our favorite spots. We then jumped back on the bus and headed to Cress Creek Country Club in Naperville.
I love Cress Creek, every time I get to photograph weddings here, I always get killer images. We were given free rein of the golf course and a bunch of golf carts to work with! Mary and Jack are both super into golf so we made sure to get a bunch of golf related images for them. One of my favorites is the one of Jack helping Mary work on her golf swing. They were so natural in front of the camera and you could really tell they are completely into each other. After the outside photos, we headed in for the reception.
Before we left, we were able to take out Jack and Mary outside for a few minutes of silhouetted nighttime photos which are always a lot of fun to do. Jack and Mary, thank you so much for having us at your wedding! You two are absolutely made for each other and it was so awesome getting to know you and your group of friends!!
